Strike ballot due to sacking of Tube Driver seen leaving gym
I must admit that I laughed when I heard this on the radio this morning, not because someone was sacked. But because of what they were sacked for. A tube driver was seen leaving a squash club when he was off sick with an ankle injury. No idea that the London Underground had so many spies around, so goodness knows who "grassed him up", although apparently he'd been told by his doctor that increasing the amount of exercise he did would actually improve his ankle.
This sacking has badly backfired on the LU as there's now going to be a ballot to go on strike in protest of his dismissal.
Bob Crow RMT leader said: "Once more London Underground is scraping the barrel in finding a pretext to sack a union activist."
