The Beckhams have got a lot to answer for
In Mecca's London Underground book One Stop Short of Barking - she wrote about the first person to be born in the carriage of a London Underground train. She was reportedly christened Thelma Ursula Beatrice Eleanor (TUBE)
"However, if the birth took place today it's likely that she would have been much more exotically christened. Picture the priest: "I baptise you Temple, Upney, Beckton, Euston". wrote Mecca.
Why stop there? Following the example of David and Victoria Beckham with their first born Brooklyn, think of the names kids could have as reminders of their conception on empty (hopefully) carriages of trains. You can almost hear the cries of young mothers: "Balham, your tea's getting cold", "Osterley and Plaistow - tidy your rooms now"."
Well in today's Mirror in a piece titled "IKEA, MEET MOET, BAMBI, FINCHLEY AND CARAMEL", we learn that Finchley is actually now a person's first name.
"Ikea, Bambi, Caramel and champagne brand Moet are among monikers registered in Britain in the past year.
Others include Finchley, after the London suburb, and Ely, Cambs - both thought to be inspired by the Beckhams calling their son Brooklyn after the area of New York where he was conceived."
